Sources: Confirming reports, Tennessee looking to Danny White for top post (Featured)

In short order, Tennessee is on the verge of rather quickly naming its successor for Phillip Fulmer atop the Volunteers' athletics department.

Multiple sources, including those in collegiate administration and within the University of Central Florida system, on Wednesday told FootballScoop that UCF athletics director Danny White was positioned to leave for the same position atop UT's athletics programs. Multiple other reports, including one from VolQuest.com's Brent Hubbs, signaled that Tennessee had focused its search on White.

Tennessee has been formally seeking a replacement for Fulmer since earlier this week, when it was announced during a Monday press conference that Fulmer would be eased out alongside the fired football coach, Jeremy Pruitt.

UT's chancellor, Donde Plowman, indicated she wanted experience in running a successful, big-time collegiate athletics program as she formally embarked on the search and retained the services of Parker Executive Search last weekend to assist Tennessee in this process.

White, per a source with direct knowledge, has an extremely strong relationship Parker Executive Search top official, Daniel Parker.

Tennessee is expected to formally announce its hiring of White this afternoon during a press conference originating from the Knoxville, Tennessee, campus.
