Adam Peloquin has resigned as Worcester State's head coach, sources told FootballScoop on Tuesday. Peloquin took a teaching position at a high school, sources said.
Worcester State is a Division III school in Worcester, Mass. The Lancers compete in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Peloquin is a 2012 WSU graduate who spent two years as his alma mater's interim head coach before finally earning the full-time job on Dec. 8, 2021. He joined the program in 2011 as an all-conference offensive guard and won the school's Peg Nugent Award for excellence on the field and in the classroom.
Before ascending to head coach, Peloquin served as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, special teams coordinator, offensive line coach, director of football operations, and as the athletics department's contest coordinator, where he handled game day management, scheduling and travel for all Lancers teams.
On the field, Worcester State went 5-25 with Peloquin at the helm. The Lancers missed the 2020 season due to the pandemic, then went 3-7 in 2021, and 1-9 each of the past two seasons.
Sources say several candidates are being actively considered.
The Lancers open their 2024 campaign a month from today in a cross-town showdown against Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
