Sources: Dynamic FCS play-caller headed to Akron as OC, quarterbacks coach (No. 1 Scoring Offense)

Taylor Housewright has been a key part of Brent Vigen's phenomenal work at Montana State.

Now Housewright, an Ohio native, is returning to his roots.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Housewright is departing the Montana State Bobcats program to become offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Akron.

With the move, Housewright is set to reunite with his longtime mentor, Moorhead. The two previously worked together at both Mississippi State and Oregon.

Housewright's college coaching journey is a fascinating one, going from sleeping in closets as a club/restaurant manager to climbing the various rungs of the coaching ladder.

But his offenses for Vigen and Montana State have been nothing short of exceptional.

MSU's 2023 unit closed the year in the top-five nationally in scoring, closing the season after this past weekend's FCS Championship as the sport's No. 2 scoring group at 39.9 points per game -- just .1 point off the top mark set by Davidson.
