As Brent Key continues to settle in to his role in full atop Georgia Tech football, Key is dialing in to enhance the Yellow Jackets' off-the-field staff.
He's hiring a new director of on-campus recruiting to assist Georgia Tech's efforts in fortifying their roster.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Kimberly Smith has accepted the Yellow Jackets' director of on-campus recruiting post, after previously serving on Lance Leipold's Kansas Jayhawks' staff as the program's director of recruiting operations.
Key has made a concerted effort since being elevated to the full-time head coach's role to beef up the Yellow Jackets' recruiting staff and work on the trail. Smith is known for her attention to detail and organizational skills.
Tech elevated Key to replace the fired Geoff Collins last fall, and Key responded with a 4-4 mark through the Yellow Jackets' final eight games, with all four wins coming against Atlantic Coast Conference foes and including an upset-win against Pittsburgh.
The Yellow Jackets open their 2023 season in a made-for-TV, Friday-night kick-off against ACC foe Louisville Sept. 1.
