Jeff Traylor is a leading candidate to be the next head coach UTSA, sources told FootballScoop on Monday.
A deal could be in place within the next 24 hours, sources say. Update: Sources say a deal is in place. Traylor will be the next head coach.
Traylor was most recently the associate head coach and running backs coach at Arkansas, and prior to that served a similar role on Chad Morris's staff at SMU. Traylor's first college job came on Charlie Strong's staff at Texas, where he coached tight ends.
Traylor is best known in Texas for his ultra-successful career as a high school coach.
In 15 seasons at Gilmer High School, Traylor compiled a 175-26 record with three state championships, two runner-up finishes and seven 13-win seasons.
Traylor also interviewed for the head coaching position at Lamar.
