Sources: Lance Taylor, Western Michigan hiring Scott Power as linebackers coach (Ohio State)

Scott Power, a former FootballScoop NAIA Defensive Coordinator of the Year, is returning to the Midwest.

Lance Taylor is making a major move for his second Western Michigan staff.

Sources tell FootballScoop Power, who last season was defensive coordinator on Sonny Cumbie's Louisiana Tech staff, will join Taylor's Western Michigan program as a defensive assistant.

Power will coach linebackers for the Broncos, who nabbed rivalry wins against Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan during Taylor's 2023 debut campaign before injuries halted the team's momentum.

An Indiana native, Power logged previous coaching stops at Stephen F. Austin, Central Washington and Texas A&M-Commerce, as well as Wartburg College and Marian University.

It was at Marian (Indiana) in 2015 that FootballScoop tabbed Power as the nation's top NAIA defensive play-caller.

Western Michigan's Year 2 schedule certainly does no favors in Taylor's rebuild; the Broncos open with back-to-back games at Wisconsin and Ohio State.
