LSU's offseason coaching-staff overhaul continues, and the Tigers are dipping into the Football Championship Subdivision ranks to further fortify their defense.
Sources tell FootballScoop that LSU is hiring Wofford defensive coordinator Sam Siefkes to a lead analyst role for its defense.
The Tigers last week finished adding Daronte Jones to run their defense and nabbed Miami's Blake Baker days later to complete their on-field staffing maneuvers.
Coach Ed Orgeron also tabbed Andre Carter to tutor the Tigers' defensive linemen.
In Siefkes, who's worked under noted defensive mind Josh Conklin at both Wofford and Florida International, the Tigers have positioned themselves to add a strong tactician who can assist in game-planning, film studies and more elements.
Siefkes, who worked at the Air Force Academy in a strength and conditioning element, was a graduate assistant under Dave Aranda at Wisconsin and also worked with Conklin at Florida International.
With Conklin and Siefkes working together the past two years to run the Terriers defense, the unit helped Wofford to a pair of Southern Conference titles and playoff appearances.
Siefkes is a Wisconsin-La Crosse undergrad and holds a Master's from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
