Sources: Mark Stoops, Kentucky fire WR coach (Commonwealth Cup)

A year that began with incredible promise for Mark Stoops's Kentucky program but ended short of expectations now has given way to offseason changes.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Stoops is parting ways with third-year receivers coach Scott Woodward.

Kentucky rallied last Saturday to beat rival Louisville in the Commonwealth Cup, but the Wildcats stumbled to season's end with five losses in their final seven games after an 5-0 start.

Stoops then nearly landed the Texas A&M job last weekend before the two sides pulled apart.

Now in moving on from Woodward, Stoops and second-year offensive coordinator Liam Coen will look to retool things on the offensive side of the ball.

Woodward had been hired to replace Jovon Bouknight prior to the 2021 season. IN 2022, Woodward helped tutor a pair of Freshman All-America selections in Barion Brown and Dane Key.

Prior to Kentucky, Woodward had stops at Pittsburgh and UMass, among others.

Kentucky is awaiting its postseason destination, which will be formalized this week following the conclusion of all conference championship games and setting the College Football Playoff field.
