Kevin Beard is going home.
Sources tell FootballScoop Wednesday that Beard is returning to his alma mater, Miami, to take over the Hurricanes' wide receivers corps as the program's new position coach.
Beard was a standout player for the Hurricanes some 20 years ago, when helped Miami to its last national championship.
For the past five seasons, Beard had been on staff at Toledo; he first was in an off-the-field role for the Rockets before he transitioned into the program's wideouts coach.
Beard also has previous Power 5 experience; he was the wideouts coach on Butch Jones's final University of Tennessee staff in 2017, and Beard spent the previous season on staff at the University of Georgia.
He's also coached at the high school level in Florida and helped kick-start his career by breaking into coaching at his alma mater.
Cristobal has been steadily rebuilding his Miami staff going into Year 2 of his return to his alma mater. The Hurricanes have seen six coaches depart from their 2022 staff and have now moved close to being fully staffed as the Hurricanes get set for spring camp.
