Chad Savage is returning to Nevada as the Wolf Pack's wide receivers coach, sources told FootballScoop on Tuesday.
A Reno native, the 26-year-old Savage has spent the bulk of his young career bouncing between his hometown team and his alma mater.
He began his college career at Division III Linfield College in Oregon before transferring to San Diego, where he spent one year as a Toreros wide receiver and three as an undergraduate assistant, working with running backs, wide receivers and tight ends. He helped USD go 29-7 with two Pioneer Football Conference titles and two FCS playoff wins, while also coaching wide receivers for the US National High School Football Team in 2016.
The Reno native returned home to work as a graduate assistant on Jay Norvell's Nevada staff, where he spent 2018-19.
Savage returned to San Diego as wide receivers coach in 2020, but is now set for a second return to Reno to coach Nevada's tight ends.
Savage re-joins a Nevada program fresh off the program's best season in a decade. The Wolf Pack went 7-2 with a Famous Idaho Potato Bowl victory over Tulane, and entered their regular season finale with a shot at the program's first Mountain West title. The Pack are expected to compete for the MW title again in 2021.
