Miami Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal still is seeking his next offensive coordinator in Coral Gables, Florida, and sources tell FootballScoop that a candidate of deep interest for Miami has emerged.
Numerous sources over the past 48 hours have told FootballScoop that Doug Nussmeier has emerged as an strong candidate for the Canes’ top offensive spot.
Both Cristobal and Nussmeier have shared history together; they were on Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide staff together in 2013.
During that shared season, they likewise worked on the same side of the ball. Cristobal was Alabama’s associate head coach and running game coordinator, as well as in charge of the Tide’s offensive line; Nussmeier coached the Alabama quarterbacks and was the team’s offensive coordinator.
Nussmeier has been a highly-regarded offensive coordinator at four different Power 5 programs – Alabama, Florida, Michigan and Washington – as well as noted for his work developing quarterbacks.
