After about a year in his current role at Notre Dame, Butler Benton is leaving South Bend for Los Angeles.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Benton has left his post as the assistant athletic director to become the new GM for DeShaun Foster at UCLA.
An official announcement is expected as soon as today.
With the Irish, Benton was responsible for the transfer portal process that helped them land transfers like quarterback Riley Leonard from Duke.
At UCLA, he takes on a key role as the Bruins are looking to move to a more national approach in recruiting as they transition to a member of the Big Ten under DeShaun Foster.
As the GM of the Bruins Benton will be responsible for all evaluations, scouting, recruiting, portal and management of NIL to go along with some fundraising responsibilities, we are told.
Benton brings critical Big Ten experience to his new role, as he previously served as the player personnel coordinator for Mark Dantonio at Michigan State. In addition to experience in the Big Ten footprint of the country, Benton has experience in multiple rich recruiting areas nationally.
Prior to his time at ND, the former Cincinnati running back under Brian Kelly and Mark Dantonio served in the general manager role at Arkansas for Sam Pittman and has also served as director of player personnel at Georgia Southern.
