Sources: Ole Miss, Lane Kiffin elevating Kelvin Bolden to tight ends coach (Kelvin Bolden)

Kelvin Bolden, a former Southern Miss player who's most recently been on Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss staff as coordinator of recruiting strategy, is being elevated into an on-field assistant coach's role, sources told FootballScoop.

Bolden is going to become the Rebels's tight ends coach.

John David Baker was hired away from Ole Miss late last year to serve as East Carolina's new offensive coordinator.

Bolden has deep ties in the Magnolia State. In addition to his collegiate playing days, he's helped head up recruiting strategy for Kiffin's Ole Miss program the past two seasons.

The Rebels are coming off an record-breaking, 11-win season punctuated by its double-digit smackdown of Penn State last week in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

Kiffin's success also recently triggered an automatic extension to his Ole Miss contract, which with incentives is set to pay Kiffin in the $10 million range.

Bolden's work with Ole Miss's recruiting efforts seems obvious; the Rebels landed what is widely heralded as the top crop of newcomers via the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The Rebels are set for a relatively soft opening month to their 2024 schedule, starting their season at home against FCS Playoff quarterfinalist Furman, as well as non-conference games against MTSU, Wake Forest and Georgia Southern.

But in the rugged and expanded SEC, Ole Miss is set to face LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia and Florida among others.
