Sources: Oregon State to hire Oregon recruiting director (JR Moala)

Oregon director of recruiting operations JR Moala is slated for a return to Oregon State, sources told FootballScoop on Monday.

Moala previously served as a defensive quality control coach at Oregon State from 2015-20, and the move will allow him to be more involved with football than he was at Oregon for the past three seasons, sources said.

A former Portland State fullback, Moala has multiple family ties to Oregon State and to Corvallis.

His late brother Tevita played linebacker for the Beavers from 1999-2000, and Moala's family remained in Corvallis while he worked in Eugene.

The 2024 season will be the first under head coach Trent Bray, a former Beavers player who spent the past six seasons as an assistant before his promotion to head coach when Jonathan Smith took the Michigan State job.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
