Sources: Portland State hiring Korey Rush into pass rush coordinator role (Korey Rush)

Korey Rush, who starred in his playing days at the University of Nevada, is climbing the coaching ranks again just a year after landing his first full-time job.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Rush is exiting his defensive line coaching position at Idaho State for an opportunity at Portland State.

Rush is set to be the pass rush coordinator and defensive line coach for the Vikings.

A year ago, Rush was hired to Idaho State for his first-ever full-time assistant coaching position after ending his playing career and earning graduate assistant opportunities at both his alma mater and Virginia Tech.

He coached the last season on Cody Hawkins's Idaho State, which won three games in 2023 and saw the university recently extend Hawkins.

Portland State, under the direction of Bruce Barnum, finished 5-6 last fall and is set to open its 2024 season Aug. 31 at Washington State.
