Winning breeds attention and makes other programs take notice.
Samford turned plenty of heads during a remarkable 2022 season that saw the Bulldogs go undefeated in Southern Conference play, advance in the Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs and post an 11-win campaign.
So it wasn't exactly surprising when Football Bowls Subdivision program Tulane snatched away Mike Krysl from the Samford staff to help run the Green Wave special teams.
Now, sources tell FootballScoop, veteran Samford head coach Chris Hatcher has a replacement for Krysl, who played collegiate for Tulane coach Willie Fritz when the pair were at Central Missouri State more than 15 years ago.
The Bulldogs are tabbing Kerry Webb to run their special teams. Webb served as a special teams analyst in 2022 at Virginia Tech under first-year Hokies head coach Brent Pry.
But Webb also has previous experience in the SoCon, having served as Western Carolina's special teams coordinator during the 2021 season.
After getting his start in coaching as a student video assistant at the University of Florida in the early 2000s, Webb also has logged time on staff at Valdosta State and Tusculum, both NCAA Division II programs.
