Sources: Skip Holtz has landed his defensive coordinator at Lousiana Tech (lousiana tech)

Source tells FootballScoop that Skip Holtz expected to bring David Blackwell on board as his defensive coordinator. Nothing is official at this point, and we hear to not expect official word on his hire until next week at the earliest.

BleedTechBlue is reporting the same.

Blackwell was hired back in January of 2019 to be the defensive coordinator at Old Dominion and his hire paid immediate dividends. The Monarchs climbed from 118th in total defense to 49th, and from 111th in scoring defense nationally to 79th after his hire.

Prior to landing the defensive coordinator job at ODU, Blackwell served as the defensive coordinator (and then interim head coach) at ECU, and prior to that was the co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at FCS power Jacksonville State (FCS - AL) for four seasons.

Blackwell would replace Bob Diaco, who left after one season to become the defensive coordinator at Purdue.

Skip Holtz entered the off season having to fill both of his coordinator roles, and filled his offensive coordinator vacancy from within with the promotion of co-offensive coordinator Joe Sloan to the play calling role on offense.
