Zach Crisler, who spent time on Hugh Freeze's Auburn staff, is heading back to South Alabama, FootballScoop has learned.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Crisler is set to coach quarterbacks for Major Applewhite's program, where Crisler served a few years ago as a graduate assistant.
Crisler was an offensive analyst the past two seasons at Auburn, where he worked with the Tigers' running backs.
After playing defensive back in college at Arkansas State, Crisler has coached in both the junior college and FBS ranks.
He has coached at Pearl River at the JuCo level, logged a couple of seasons as a graduate assistant at FCS program North Alabama and then also two previous seasons at South Alabama prior to his time at Auburn.
Applewhite led the Jaguars to a seven-win 2024 campaign that was punctuated by South Alabama's bowl win against Western Michigan.
USA opens its 2025 season Aug. 30 at home against Florida A&M and hosts Tulane the next week; the Jags travel Sept. 13 to Auburn.
