Tyron Carrier, a former standout wide receiver in college who also played professionally in the CFL, is close to finalizing a return to FBS coaching, sources told FootballScoop.
Stan Drayton's Temple Owls program is working to hire Carrier as its new wide receivers coach, per sources, and the deal is expected to be completed within the week, barring any unforeseen snags.
Last week, Temple parted ways with Jafar Williams.
A former FootballScoop Wide Receiver Coach of the Year in 2018 for his work at West Virginia, Carrier has past coaching stops at Baylor, with the Mountaineers, Houston, where he was assistant head coach, and more recently, stops at both Texas A&M-Commerce and Grambling under Hue Jackson.
Starring at wide receiver at Houston, Carrier played in the CFL as well as the Arena Football League before he transitioned into coaching.
Drayton has sharply overhauled much of the Temple staff after a second-straight 3-9 season.
The Owls open their 2024 season at Oklahoma Aug. 31.
