Sources: Texas A&M to hire Holmon Wiggins away from Alabama (holmon wiggins)

Texas A&M is set to hire Alabama wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins to the same position, sources told FootballScoop on Tuesday. Billy Liucci of TexAgs first reported the news.

Wiggins has been with Alabama since 2019. That period saw DeVonta Smith become the first wide receiver since Desmond Howard to win the Heisman Trophy as part of, arguably, the most explosive passing offense college football has ever seen. Wiggins was selected by his peers as the 2020 FootballScoop Wide Receivers Coach of the Year, the same year Smith won the Heisman and the Tide won their most recent national title.

Wiggins coached five 1,000-yard wide receivers in his five seasons in Tuscaloosa, though the Crimson Tide did not have a 1,000-yard wideout in either of the past two seasons. Jermaine Burton led the club in 2022 and 2023 with 677 and 798 yards, respectively.

At A&M, Wiggins will join a new staff headed by Mike Elko and coordinated by Collin Klein, who took the job last month after two seasons running the offense at Kansas State.
