Sources: Todd Gilcrist resigns after two seasons at University of Chicago (University Of Chicago)

After two seasons leading the University of Chicago (D-III - IL), football program, sources tell FootballScoop that Todd Gilcrist has stepped down.

Gilcrist was promoted to take over the Maroons in April 2022, following the late off season departure of Chris Wilkerson to take as the head coach at Eastern Illinois (FCS).

He led the program to a 7-3 record his first season, averaging over 37 points per game with one of the top rushing attacks in the country.

The 2022 season saw similar success, as Gilcrist led the team to a 6-4 mark.

Gilcrist steps away with a record of 13-7 in two seasons.

Sources share that the school has decided to elevate offensive line coach Max Andrews to interim head coach for the season in a move meant to ensure some continuity.

After the season, an evaluation on head coaching job and the needs for the future of the program will take place.
