Tyrone Wheatley is expected to become the next head coach at Morgan State, sources told FootballScoop on Tuesday.
A former Michigan and NFL running back, Wheatley spent a decade playing for the New York Giants and Oakland Raiders, then jumped into coaching at Michigan's Robichaud High School, his alma mater. From there, Wheatley crafted a career as a running backs coach at the college and professional levels.
He has deposited coaching stints at Ohio Northern, Eastern Michigan and Syracuse before returning to the NFL with the Buffalo Bills in 2013. He left Buffalo to join Jim Harbaugh's staff at Michigan in 2015, then returned to the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017. The Jags did not retain Wheatley after the 2018 campaign.
