Sources: Willie Simmons adding former Alabama player, coaching veteran to FAMU staff (dennis franchione)

Willie Simmons and Florida A&M have a new passing game coordinator.

In the process, Simmons' Rattlers program also has its next wide receivers coach.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Simmons is hiring Antonio 'A.C.' Carter to handle those tasks for Florida A&M, which has experienced newfound success under the direction of the personable Simmons.

The Rattlers have amassed 27 wins across their past three full seasons under Simmons, a Tallahassee, Florida, native, with strong head coaching work at Prairie View A&M prior to his work rebuilding FAMU. Simmons has carved a reputation as a coaching commodity, at both the Historically Black College and University level (HBCU), as well as all levels of college football.

For Carter, it's another step in a strong career as an assistant coach at a variety of levels.

Playing for Alabama under both Dennis Franchione and Mike Shula from 2000-04 with the Crimson Tide, Carter after transitioning into coaching owns stops at Samford, UTEP, a stint as a graduate assistant at his alma mater under Nick Saban and, most recently, as the as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Miles College.
