Central Missouri: Sean Teter has been promoted to strength and wconditioning coach at UCM. Teter spent the past year and a half in a graduate assistant capacity.
Dixie State (D-II – UT): Bryce Patterson has been announced as the new strength and conditioning coach at Dixie State. Patterson previously served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the Colorado School of Mines.
Akron: We have learned that Matt Gildersleeve has joined the staff as a graduate assistant. Gildersleeve previously served as an intern in the strength and conditioning department at LSU during the summer of 2012, and also served as an intern at Akron in the summer of 2011.
North Texas: The University of North Texas is looking for qualified candidates to fill Fall Internships for 2012. This position is an unpaid internship with the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in a Division 1 program as well as earn college credit if necessary. Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, etc, or completing degree requirements for graduation. Southern Miss: We hear that former Western Kentucky and Alabama strength staff member Ben Sowders has joined the staff at Southern Miss as an assistant strength coach.
Pepperdine: We hear that Tubbs Pike will be promoted to assistant strength and conditioning coach. Tubbs served in a volunteer strength role during the 2012 spring semester.
Dixie State College (D-II – UT): Dixie State College of Utah seeking qualified interns for the 2012-2013 school year and / or fall and spring semesters. This is a non-paid position. Interns will have the opportunity to gain college credit towards graduation, if applicable, as well as valuable professional experience in the field of strength & conditioning and recommendation for future employment opportunities. Qualifications: Applicants must be highly motivated, with a tremendous work ethic, and a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. Communication and organizational skills are a must. Experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning program and with the Olympic lifts is preferred. Completed or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field is preferred. Completed or working towards CSCS, SCCC, or USAW Certification is preferred. First Aid / CPR / AED is required. Villanova: John Shackleton has been hired to work with the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Villanova. Shackleton previously served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Olympic Sports at Villanova. Prior to Villanova, he served as an Assistant at Princeton University as well as the University of Pittsburgh, along with serving as a Graduate Assistant at George Washington.
Alabama: University of Alabama Strength & Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning VOLUNTEER INTERN. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, teaching student athletes proper technique and equipment use, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities and participation in weekly projects and professional development throughout the internship program. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. Potential mentorship opportunity to obtain CSCCa, SCCC certification will be available for some candidates. NO MONETARY COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED. Candidates must have a strong work-ethic and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree or be in the last semester of coursework for undergraduate degree in exercise physiology or related field of study.
