Southern University: The Southern University Strength & Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning VOLUNTEER INTERN. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, teaching student athletes proper technique and equipment use, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities and participation in projects and professional development throughout the internship program. Preferred candidates will have: - A bachelor’s degree or be in pursuit of undergraduate degree in a sport science, exercise physiology, health and exercise science, kinesiology or related field of study - CPR/First Aid and AED certification - Knowledge of strength and cardio equipment. - Certification from one or more of the following (NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW) are preferred but not required but willing to obtain. Compensation: Experience in Strength and Conditioning at a collegiate level with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. In addition, college credits can be rewarded, if applicable. Potential mentorship opportunity to obtain CSCCa, SCCC certification will be available for some candidates. NO MONETARY COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED. Cumberland (NAIA - TN): Cumberland University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting two (2) volunteer unpaid strength and conditioning intern positions for the Fall 2014 semester. Internship will begin August 7 and continue through December 6, 2014. Qualifications: Completed or working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field; current CPR/AED certification; desire to pursue career as a strength and conditioning coach; strong work ethic; punctual. Preferred: Currently possess or working toward CSCS or SCCC certification; previous internship/coaching experience; ability to work with Microsoft Office programs. Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to: Assisting strength coaches with the implementation and supervision of strength and conditioning/sports performance programs, daily weight room maintenance and upkeep, and any other duties assigned by the head strength and conditioning coach. Interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field as well as fulfill school internship hours if necessary.
