Pitt: The University of Pittsburgh’s Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for volunteer interns for the Fall 2013. Daily responsibilities include: assisting with the set up and break down of weight room and fields for conditioning workouts; daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room and all of its equipment; assist with supervision and demonstration during the training sessions. Applicants must be highly self motivated, able to follow directions, desire to learn, and have a strong work ethic. The Successful applicants should be working towards earning their Bachelor’s degree and a certification from the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, and/or USAW and have experience as a collegiate athlete. Interns must be CPR/AED certified. This is an unpaid position, however, volunteers will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Arkansas State: Arkansas State University Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant. ASU is an NCAA Division I University competing in the Sunbelt Conference. The position is an 11 month position to begin August 1, 2013, which includes a monthly stipend. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and the desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least six months experience in a collegiate weight room and or collegiate playing experience is required. The successful candidate must be accepted into graduate school and is required to have CPR/First Aid certification. Ability to work well with students, faculty, community and media is required. Demonstrate understanding of a strong commitment to cultural diversity is required as well as good communication skills, strong leadership skills, and organizational skills. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credentials required. The responsibilities: Assist with football, baseball, track, men’s and women’s golf in the design and implementation of training protocols of student athletes. Assist the athletic training staff in rehabilitation and injury prevention as needed, supervise the workout sessions of teams, instruct proper lifting techniques for strength and conditioning, supervise volunteers and interns, and ensure safe operation and professional supervision of the facility. Gardner-Webb: Gardner-Webb University: Gardner-Webb University is seeking a grad assistant strength and conditioning coach. Applicant must possess a strong knowledge of teaching technique of Olympic-style lifting exercises. Introduce and teach the objectives of each training phase to student-athletes. Duties will include assisting with the day to day Football program as well as covering assigned sports by the Director.
