Merrimack College (MA): Merrimack College is accepting applications for Summer 2015 Strength and Conditioning Internships. Merrimack, a Catholic Institution located in North Andover, MA with more than 2,000 students, is a member of Division I Hockey East and Division II Northeast-10 conference. Responsibilities for the position will entail assisting in implementation of all aspects of Strength and Conditioning programs for 23 Varsity Sports. Interns will assist with all strength, speed, and conditioning training, as well as weight room maintenance and upkeep. Interns may also earn the opportunity to be responsible for the design and implementation of programs for 1-2 teams. All interns will also be required to complete an educational curriculum consisting of various assignments and presentations throughout the internship. This is an unpaid position, but offers the opportunity for advancement in the field of Strength & Conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program. Preferred Qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science or related field; CSCS or USAW certifications. Florida Atlantic: The Florida Atlantic University Strength & Conditioning department is accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Intern for the Summer 2015 semester (May 11th – August 9th). Compensation: Division I Intercollegiate experience; an earned recommendation toward further success as a Strength & Conditioning Coach; as well as college credit toward graduation, if applicable. Please be aware that there will be NO monetary compensation, nor housing offered for this position. Duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting staff in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for all FAU sports; set up, and breakdown of training equipment; as well as assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, and highly motivated; preferred candidates are to be in a Bachelor’s degree program geared towards Exercise Physiology or a related field; experience in a college strength & conditioning setting. Preferred Qualifications: Working towards a Graduate’s degree in a program geared toward Exercise Physiology or a related field; working towards a nationally-accredited strength & conditioning certification (SCCC, CSCS, USAW, etc.); knowledge/experience working with Microsoft Excel. Appalachian State: Appalachian State University is accepting applications for Summer 2015 Strength and Conditioning Internships working specifically with FOOTBALL. These are UNPAID internships. These positions will run from late-May through the end of July. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division 1 Sun Belt Conference S&C environment. There will be opportunities to work with Olympic Sports. Daily tasks include but are not limited to: aiding in the implementation of training programs, assisting with set up and break down of equipment; daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room; assist with supervision and demonstration during training. Applicants must be highly self-motivated, able to follow directions, possess excellent communication skills, have a desire to learn, and have an extremely strong work ethic. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/AED/First Aid, adapt to demanding schedule, and a strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach. At the end of the semester long internship volunteers will have a better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future opportunities, and if applicable receive college credit.
