Tulsa: The University Of Tulsa Department Of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for the Summer 2016 Athletic Performance Internship Curriculum. This volunteer internship will expose participants to all facets of Athletic Performance. Interns will complete both an academic and practical curriculum. Academic experiences include: weekly reading assignments, program design projects, daily meetings/discussions with full time staff members, and weekly evaluations. Practical experiences include: hands on experience in running a Division I Athletic Performance Department, staff meetings, daily maintenance, technology implementation and record keeping. Interns will receive experience working with various teams in a Division I training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Intern qualifications include: enrollment in a bachelor’s/master’s program in exercise science or related field, punctuality, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include: SCCC or CSCS certification, CPR/First Aid certification. Dartmouth: Dartmouth College is seeking volunteer interns for Summer 2016. These individuals will gain valuable experience at the college level as well as credit approved by their institution. The internship will involve assisting in: the supervision of training sessions, different training methods, nutrition, learning/executing exercise technique, daily maintenance of equipment, and educational research. Qualifications: Must be working toward certification and exhibit a strong desire to be a strength and conditioning coach. Nevada: The University of Nevada Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for the positions of VOLUNTEER INTERN for Summer 2016 (June 1 to July 29, 2016). DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES will include but are not limited to assisting in the implementation of the Strength and Conditioning Department programs; set up and break down for daily activities, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and participation in the internship curriculum. NO MONETARY COMPENSATION OR HOUSING/TRANSPORTATION will be provided, however, Interns will receive experience working in a Division 1 training environment and have the opportunity to earn recommendations for future career opportunities and/or receive college credit if applicable. Interns at Nevada will be expected to work 40 hours/week and will have the opportunity to work with all 16 of our Men and Women’s athletic teams. The Intern’s level of ambition will determine the level of the learning experience. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a strong work ethic and have a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Interns are expected to be punctual, enthusiastic, reliable, productive and consistent along with having the financial capability to hold the position for the duration of the internship. Ideal candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree or be in the last semester of coursework earning and undergraduate degree in exercise science or related field of study. Certification from one or more of the following (NSCA, CSCS; CSCCa, SCCC; USAW) is preferred but not required.
