Florida International: Florida International University Strength & Conditioning Department is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Intern for Football for the fall 2014 semester. The FIU staff is looking for highly motivated, hungry, aspiring strength coaches that want to work at the collegiate level. The program is beneficial for undergraduate students and the post bachelor professional looking for experience; as well as develops characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. The successful candidates will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 40 hours per week with the Strength & Conditioning Department. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. No monetary compensation will be provided. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and a certification from one of the following: CSCS; SCCC; USAW but are not required. Inquiries must be received by: July 25th for the fall semester. Minnesota Duluth (MN): The University of Minnesota Duluth Athletics Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking an applicant for Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. The successful candidate will assist with the implementation of sport-specific strength training programs for all sports and will be assigned his/her own sports. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the head strength and conditioning coach with the design and implementation of sport-specific strength, speed, and agility programs; weight room supervision; daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment; communication with coaches and other duties as assigned by the head strength and conditioning coach. Must be highly motivated, possess strong interpersonal skills as well as written skills and provide positive leadership within the University of Minnesota Duluth Athletic Department. This is a two year renewable position that requires a bachelor’s degree, admission to the graduate program and certification through the NSCA with CSCCA or USA Weightlifting preferred . Akron: The University of Akron is looking for one highly motivated VOLUNTEER Football only Strength and Conditioning Intern. This internship will include direct coaching experience with responsibilities that include conducting team warm- up stations, speed and agility stations, and leading athletes through team workouts. This internship will include intense staff development and will provide a highly educational atmosphere. All applicants must be pursuing an exercise science related bachelors degree and either a CSCS, USAW, or CSCCa certification. Northern Colorado: Northern Colorado is looking for an assistant director of sports performance / assistant strength and conditioning coach. PRIMARY POSITION FUNCTION/SUMMARY: Assist the Director of Sport Performance in developing and implementing individualized strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assistant Director of Sport Performance in the following: 1. Developing and implementing individualized strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes in the football program and Olympic sports as assigned 2. Instruct athletes in how to execute all training exercises safely and correctly to obtain desired results 3. Assisting in managing, supervising and controlling the operation of the weight room QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in a related field required. Minimum of two years of strength and conditioning experience preferred at the collegiate and/or professional level. N.S.C.A. or C.S.C.C.A certification required and background in nutrition preferred. Akron: Parker Showers and Matt Clapp have joined the strength and conditioning staff at Akron. Showers will serve as a grad assistant and spent last season at Villanova, and Clapp comes from the University of Arizona.
