Rhode Island (DI): The University of Rhode Island Football Strength and Conditioning department is accepting internship applications for the Spring of 2012, there are 3 positions available. The internship will begin January 11th and will continue through the end of the semester. This is a full-time unpaid internship; responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the supervision and training of all URI Football players, assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties, program design, nutritional education, re-hab supervision, and a full comprehensive educational syllabus. Qualifications: All applicants must be highly motivated, energetic, independent, have problem solving skills and be looking to advance their career in collegiate/professional strength and conditioning. Applicants must demonstrate a strong work ethic, have a desire to learn, and be enthusiastic in pursuit of improving the performance of URI student athletes. Preferred qualifications include: Senior status or completion of a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field; eligible to sit for the CSCS, or USAW certification; CPR certification. Compensation: Interns will receive experience working in a FCS training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, receive any available athletics gear, and receive college credit if applicable. Quinnipiac (DI - CT): The Quinnipiac Strength and Conditioning Internship program is designed to provide students the opportunity to work with Division I athletes and to develop the hands-on-skills to start a successful career as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach, sports performance specialist, personal trainer or fitness center director. Student-interns must be committed to the field of Strength and Conditioning and be eager to learn and participate in all areas. Each student-intern will be responsible for developing a positive rapport with the student-athletes while maintaining a professional distance. The student-intern will learn to establish themselves as a strength & conditioning professional to not only the student-athletes, but to all coaches and administrators as well. Other responsibilities will include: assist in fitness testing, computation of results and evaluation of student-athletes, teach proper techniques for Olympic lifts, power lifts, mobility, core and speed development exercises, assist in the maintenance and cleaning of the facility and its equipment, motivating student-athletes to achieve their maximum potential in all areas of performance, learning how to use Microsoft Office to develop strength and conditioning programs and presentations, work and communicate with coaches, athletic trainers and medical staff, reading articles, books and watching DVD/Videos to enhance training knowledge as well as to have professional discussions, interested students can send their resume to along with a cover letter and references.
