Prairie View A&M: Prairie View A&M University Strength & Conditioning Department is looking for 3-4 unpaid interns for the Spring 2015 semester. The potential candidate(s) will gain experience working with Division I athletes through the Spring, expand on their base of knowledge and gain potential references for future Strength & Conditioning positions. Preferred candidates will have previous experience in a team setting, have the ability to lead large and/or small groups, the ability to communicate effectively; moreover, they will have an enthusiastic spirit, strong character and moral fiber, a willingness to learn/think outside the box. Duties are but are not limited to: daily maintenance and/or clean-up of the weight room or fields used for workouts; weight room set up/breakdown; possible leadership opportunities to lead workouts for different sports. Applicants should be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and or higher in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field; be certified or seeking certification in the NSCA(CSCS). All applicants must be currently certified in CPR/AED/First Aid certification. This is an unpaid, non-monetary position. Start date is January 20, 2015 and will end the last week of finals in May 2015. Selected Interns may have an opportunity to to stay through the Summer for Football Preseason and possibly the Fall. Kentucky: The University of Kentucky High Performance program is seeking three unpaid/uncompensated internships for the WINTER/SPRING of 2015. A STRONG background in physiology and statistical experience is preferred. Daily duties will consist of assisting the High Performance staff in implementing physical preparation programs and assisting in tracking and logging data for the sports science program. In addition daily duties will include implementing athlete monitoring systems, generic maintenance/ cleaning of the training facility, statistical analysis and data input along with other assigned duties. Maine: The University of Maine is currently seeking a qualified individual for its strength and conditioning part-time assistant position. This is a paid position with a seven month commitment at no more than 40 hours per week. The pay is $8,000 for the next 7 months. Responsibilities include any sports assigned by the Director of Speed, Strength and Conditioning. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science Degree with a concentration in Exercise Science/Nutrition/Kinesiology or a related field. Must have CPR/AED. It is preferred that the individual has previous playing or coaching experience at the collegiate level.
