UAB: UAB is accepting applications for volunteer intern coaches to contribute to the Sports Performance Program. Qualified candidates will serve all sports including Football, and will have the opportunity to assist in all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. This is an unpaid opportunity that provides experience assisting the staff with each team and taking part in a 16 week class room and hands on intern education course that will prepare any young coach for a full time position in the sports performance field. Potential candidates must possess positive and contagious energy, strong character, a solid foundation in anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, and actual lifting, running, and training. Required qualifications include achievement or current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related course of study in addition to current CPR/AED certification. Maine: The University of Maine athletic department currently has a restricted earnings strength and conditioning assistant position available starting immediately. The position includes an $8,000 stipend from the strength and conditioning department and the opportunity to earn additional income coaching track and field. Program design and implementation directly with men and women's cross country, track and field, along with assisting in football and other sports as needed. The coaching responsibilities may also include the applicant having experience in the hurdles, horizontal jumps, and multi-events. Coaching or playing experience at the NCAA division one level is preferred. All applicants must have a bachelor degree, hold a First-Aid CPR, and have prior experience in a collegiate or professional strength and conditioning setting. Richard Stockton College of NJ (D-III): The Richard Stockton College of NJ Strength and Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for volunteer interns for the Spring 2015 semester. Duties include: assist with all aspects of training for all varsity sports, daily facility set-up and maintenance, assist with supervision and skill demonstration during training sessions, data collection and input, completion of internship course curriculum, assist with outside activities as assigned by S&C Coach. Applicants must be highly self-motivated, able to follow directions, eager to learn, have a strong work ethic, and have the ability to adapt to schedule changes. In addition, the successful applicants should be working towards earning/have earned their Bachelor’s degree and a certification from the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, and/or USAW. Catawba College (D-II - NC): Catawba College is seeking applications for Winter & Spring 2015 Strength and Conditioning Internship opportunities. Preferred applicants must be highly motivated, have a tremendous work ethic, and interested in becoming a Strength/Performance Coach. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in administering programs for Football, Men’s Basketball, Baseball, Women’s Soccer and Cross Country. Also work directly with student athletes to teach proper lifting technique, assess and document progress of the student athletes during training, and maintain a clean, sanitized weight room. This is a non-paid, no compensation, volunteer position. All interns, if applicable, will have the opportunity for credit towards graduation with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related major. Husson University (ME): Husson University Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for a Spring 2015 Strength and Conditioning Volunteer. This is an unpaid position. Volunteer responsibilities include: Assisting with implementation of strength and conditioning programs at Husson University; Assisting with daily operations and facility/equipment maintenance; Effective set up and take down of strength and conditioning facilities for all programs at Husson University. Volunteer qualifications include: CPR/First Aid and AED certification; Experience in athletics or athletic preparation; Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Preferred qualifications include: Junior or Senior status or completion of a bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field; NSCA CSCS or equivalent; and a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach. North Texas: The University of North Texas Department of Strength and Conditioning; Strength and Conditioning Mentorship Program. UNT is a proud member of Conference USA and is searching for aspiring strength and conditioning coaches to fill volunteer mentorship coaching positions available for the 2015 SPRING semester (1/12 – 5/15). Prospective mentorship candidates will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of the North Texas Strength and Conditioning coaching staff, a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCCa) approved mentor, as well as gain in-valuable hands-on experience working with Division I athletes (Football and Olympic sports). Mentees will have the opportunity to participate in the UNT Strength and Conditioning Professional Development & Educational Curriculum.
