San Diego: The University of San Diego is accepting applications for 2 VOLUNTEER UNPAID INTERN COACHES to contribute to the Athletic Performance department. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to gain coaching experience with all 17-sport teams and assist the staff in the implementation of comprehensive injury prevention and sport specific performance programs. Required qualifications include current CPR/AED certification and the successful completion of a background check. Samford: Samford University Department of Strength and Conditioning is now accepting applications for Spring 2015 Strength and Conditioning VOLUNTEER INTERNS. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for Football and all Olympic Sports, bringing fire and passion to the workplace day in and day out, assisting in creating the best and most productive training environment for our student athletes, and assist in creating a competitive training atmosphere. Some candidates may have the opportunity to travel with various sports during if you are chosen to remain through the entirety of the Spring semester. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. Please feel free to contact our former interns about the experience. NO MONETARY COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree or be in the last semester of coursework for undergraduate degree in exercise physiology or related field of study. Certification from one or more of the following (NSCA, CSCS; CSCCa, SCCC; USAW) are preferred. CSCCa mentorship program will be available for candidates seeking to obtain the SCCC certification for candidates who are selected to remain for the full nine month mentorship program. Eastern Illinois: The Department of Strength and Conditioning at Eastern Illinois University is accepting applications for an intern/volunteer coaching position for the Fall 2014 semester. This is an unpaid position. Responsibilities include assisting with supervision and coaching of training programs, assisting with daily facility maintenance, completion of the intern development program, and other departmental functions. Intern qualifications include: Strong work ethic; desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning; pursuing (or already obtained) degree in Exercise Science or related field; CPR/AED certification; CSCS, SCCC, and/or USAW certification. Interns will have the opportunity to receive experience working at the Division 1 level with multiple sports (including football), have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable.
