Tennessee: The University of Tennessee Athletics Department seeks applications for the position of Strength & Conditioning Coaching Assistant. This is an 8-month commitment. Candidates will complete a CSCCa practicum, submit a design project and take certification exam at the CSCCa National Conference. This position offers an opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning, including hands on experience with elite level Football and Olympic Sport teams and involvement with all aspects of Strength Clinic and Camp preparation and implementation. Required Education and Credentials: Bachelors Degree, preferably in related field, current member of the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association and CPR, First Aid and AED certified. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least one year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletic experience. Must have outstanding work ethic, attention to detail and possess strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer software knowledge, effective organization and administrative skills are all highly preferred. Compensation: Financial coverage of CSCCa practicum, exam, conference attendance and travel fees included. Terms of Employment: 8-month minimum appointment (Sept. 1, 2012 – May 10, 2013), with option for renewal at the discretion of the Director of Strength & Conditioning. Responsibilities: Set-up and break down of all training sessions, assist with implementation of all workouts and primary assistant for all aspects of Strength Camp and/or Clinic. Weight room and equipment maintenance for five strength-training facilities. Must successfully complete CSCCa practicum, mentee curriculum, design projects, and other educational readings/articles; all other duties as assigned by Director of Strength & Conditioning. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to adhere to all rules and regulations of the University of Tennessee, the Southeastern Conference and the NCAA. Clemson: Clemson University Department of Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill Fall 2012 internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. Individuals will also have the opportunity to work with all the Olympic sports that train out of Jervey weight room. It may fulfill course credit if necessary. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, attending to daily maintenance of the training facilities, and professional development throughout internship program. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach. Pursuing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s). Compensation: This is a non-paid volunteer position. Will gain experience as well as future recommendation for employment.
