University of Rhode Island: is currently seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position of Strength and Conditioning intern for the Fall 2011 semester. Essential job functions for the position include, but are not limited to: assisting the Director of Strength and Conditioning and assistant strength and conditioning coaches in developing and implementing strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs for the University’s intercollegiate athletic teams; assessing student-athletes' physical attributes to improve athletic performance; maintaining weight room and equipment; daily contact with sports medicine staff regarding athletic injuries and rehabilitation procedures; input of testing data; provide discipline and motivation to student-athletes to excel and improve; performing miscellaneous related duties when necessary. Applicants pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in a related field is preferred. Applicants certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) preferred but not required. Current CPR certification is a requirement. This is an unpaid position. Morehead State: 2 positions available (a grad assistant postion and a part-time staff assistant). 10 month positions beginning August 22. Applicant will assist all aspects of strength and conditioning for all sports. Applicant will have direct responsibility of 2 or more sports and will assist with others. Must be enrolled in related graduate program (Graduate Assistant Position only). Must have practical knowledge of, and experience in teaching exercise technique and instruction. Must have genuine interest in pursuing a career in strength and conditioning and a willingness to learn. $5000/Semester Stipend, discounted tuition (in state). Merrimack College: located in North Andover, MA is accepting applications for a one year, part time position of Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the 2011-2012 academic year. The Warriors are a member of the Division I Hockey East Conference and Division II Northeast 10 Conference, and currently sponsor 20 varsity intercollegiate sports that provide opportunities for nearly 400 student athletes.Responsibilities for the successful candidate include assisting the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in all aspects of training for 20 varsity athletic programs. Duties will include teaching student athletes proper technique, weight room supervision and maintenance, program design and implementation, and organization of the day-to-day activities of the strength and conditioning program. Job Requirements: Candidate must be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field and the desire to gain valuable experience in the field of strength and conditioning.
