Houston: The University of Houston is currently accepting applications for Fall 2011 volunteer interns. Responsibilities will include: 1) Assisting with the development and implementation of sport specific strength & conditioning programs. 2) Organizational and office duties. 3) Daily maintenance of equipment. 3) Restocking of supplementation. 4) Other duties as assigned by strength & conditioning staff. Applicants are expected to assist in daily maintenance and upkeep of student-athlete weight room, and possess strong communication skills and work ethic. Required qualifications: completion or currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or a related field, and strong desire to become a strength & conditioning coach. Preferred qualifications: proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, completion or currently pursuing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s), and previous coaching experience in a team setting. Morgan State University: Accepting applications for Fall 2011 Strength & Conditioning Intern. Responsibilities will begin on or about August 22, 2011 and run through December 2, 2011. Responsibilities will include 1.) Assist with development and implementation of sport specific strength & conditioning programs. 2.) Office and organizational duties. 3.) Maintenance of equipment and training facilities. 4.) Other duties as assigned by strength & conditioning staff. Required qualifications: currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or a related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and strong desire to become a College Strength & Conditioning Coach. Preferred qualifications: proficient in Microsoft word and excel, currently pursuing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s) Compensation: This is a volunteer position. No stipend, but possible housing available. Individual will gain experience in a division I college strength & conditioning setting as well as future recommendation. College credit will be given as approved by their institution.
