Appalachian State: Appalachian State University is accepting applications for Fall 2016 Strength and Conditioning Internships. These are UNPAID internships. These positions will run from approximately August 15th thru early December. Interns will gain practical experience working with a multitude of teams, including football, at a Division 1 Sun Belt Conference university. Daily tasks include but are not limited to: aiding in the implementation of training programs, assisting with set up and break down of equipment, daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room, and supervision of nutrition area. Applicants must be highly self-motivated, able to follow directions, possess excellent communication skills, have a desire to learn, and have an extremely strong work ethic. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/AED/First Aid, adapt to demanding schedule, and a strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach. At the end of the semester long internship volunteers will have a better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future opportunities, and if applicable receive college credit. Florida Atlantic: The Florida Atlantic University Strength & Conditioning department is accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Intern for the upcoming 2016 Fall semester (August 21st – December 11th). Compensation: Division I Intercollegiate experience; an earned recommendation toward further success as a Strength & Conditioning Coach; as well as college credit toward graduation, if applicable. Please be aware that this position is unpaid and does not provide housing. Duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting staff in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for all FAU sports; set up, and breakdown of training equipment; as well as assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, and highly motivated; preferred candidates are to be in a Bachelor’s degree program geared towards Exercise Physiology and/or related field. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a Strength & Conditioning or Sports Performance environment; working towards a nationally-accredited strength & conditioning certification (SCCC, CSCS, USAW, etc.); knowledge/experience working with Microsoft Excel.
