Ohio State: The Ohio State University Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning department is accepting applications for an intern that will primarily work with men’s and women’s basketball and men’s hockey. This is for the fall 2017 semester and the internship is non-paid and must be able to be here for the entire duration of the semester. You will have the opportunity to work with elite Division I athletes and will also take part of two one hour teaching/learning sessions per week. This internship qualifies for the CSCCa’s practicum/internship requirement to test for certification. From the teaching/learning sessions and weekly projects you will have a portfolio that you will be able to use at your next interview and at your next position. Upon your very successful completion, you will also be able to use our staff members as references and contacts along with The Ohio State University Athletics name. To qualify for on on-campus interview you must be at least a junior and are working towards a degree that will lead you to become a strength and conditioning coach. This program is also open to individuals who have received their bachelors or master’s degree. Priority will be given to those who need an internship to complete their degree program. Harding (D-II - AR): Harding University is seeking applicants for a strength and conditioning graduate assistant coaching position who will work strictly with the football program. Most importantly, we are interested in someone who has a desire to serve God and who sees coaching as an avenue to impact lives for Christ. Responsibilities include training and supervising athletes in a competitive environment; assisting with program design, teaching proper sport-specific weightlifting, speed, agility, and conditioning techniques; assisting with the daily maintenance of the facility, equipment, and other duties as assigned. This position carries with it $3,500 of tuition credit per semester. No housing, meals, or stipend is included. A Bachelor’s degree is required and applicants should be working towards a Certified Strength and Conditioning Certification with the NSCA. Catawba College (D-II - Salisbury, NC): Catawba Strength & Conditioning is seeking applications for ONE PAID 2017-2018 Internship. The internship will be split into two four-month stints paid at $2,500 each for a total of $5,000 over eight months. You will be given the months of December and May off. Having a part time job around team scheduling is allowed. The first of the two will begin as soon as possible until November 30th, 2017. The second will begin January 2nd, 2018 until April 30th, 2018. Experience with Olympic Sports is preferred. The position will assist with Football and train a minimum of three teams, men and women, based on experience. Preferred applicants must be highly motivated, have a tremendous work ethic, and be interested in becoming a Strength/Performance Coach. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Strength Staff in all aspects of program administration. The position requires working directly with student athletes to teach proper lifting technique, assess and document progress of the student athletes during training, and maintain a clean, sanitized weight room. As an intern within Catawba Strength & Conditioning, you will follow an 11-week curriculum that allows you to learn how to: learn and teach proper lifting position and technique, research relevant training modalities, create exercise banks, develop training programs and manipulate those programs based on time of year, sport-specificity, exercise progression, training age, and available equipment. You will also be given monthly performance reviews to help you improve your abilities as a Strength Coach. All interns, if applicable, will have the opportunity for credit towards graduation with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related major. All applicants will be subject to a background check. Please apply only if you are financially able. No other compensation (meals, housing, etc.) will be given. A Nationally accredited certification, NSCA/CSCCa/USAW is required at the beginning of the internship, or you must show proof of exam test date. Interns MUST be CPR/AED certified.
