Cal: The University of California Berkeley Football Strength and Conditioning Program is seeking candidates for the fall 2018 internship program. Qualified candidates will work directly with Football as well as various Olympic sport teams as assigned. This is an UNPAID POSITION but provides the opportunity to learn from 9 experienced strength and conditioning coaches at the FBS Level (Pac-12). Intern responsibilities will include: Assisting with the supervision of training programs, daily facility upkeep as well as participating in various educational assignments during the internship. All internship applicants must be CPR & First Aid certified. Preferred qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in a Kinesiology/Exercise Science related field as well as a CSCS/SCCC certification. Harvard (FCS - MA): Harvard Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for the Fall 2018 internship. This is a volunteer, UNPAID, position and offers Division I experience with 42 varsity sports and training in an educational environment as well as an opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting the strength and conditioning staff in the training of the Harvard University sports programs; assist with daily administrative, and maintenance duties; assist in the set-up and break-down of equipment for every workout; spotting athletes and participate in weekly projects and assignments for the duration of the internship. Minimum Qualifications: must have a strong work- ethic, enthusiasm and a desire to develop the characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree/pursuing a degree in exercise science or a related field and pursuing one of the following certifications: SCCC; CSCS or USAW and a CPR –First Aid certification. Shorter (D-II - GA): Shorter University invites applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant Coach. The placement will involve a number of the following duties & responsibilities: Assist Director of Strength & Conditioning in all aspects of training for the 18 Div. II varsity sports, attend weekly training seminar on teaching correct techniques for appropriate workout regimens, teach athletes proper technique and perform diagnostic biomechanical analysis of an athlete’s movement, assist with supervision of the weight-room (equipment maintenance and cleaning, exercise supervision, safety issues etc.), program design & responsibility for 3 - 5 assigned sports teams, assist with the input of test data, research, and testing, and discussion of professionalism, budgets, weight room safety and set-up. GAs receive 31 hours of tuition remission for graduate courses only; if pre-requisites are needed they must be covered by financial aid or applicant’s personal funds. Qualifications: Potential candidates must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. All candidates must be enrolled for the 2018 Spring Semester and maintain satisfactory progress towards degree completion to maintain the position. Required: Undergraduate degree in related strength and conditioning field; 1 – 2 years coaching experience, in the weight room, is preferred. The candidate must be able to articulate their salvation history clearly and meet the Core Spiritual Requirements listed in the Graduate Assistantship guidelines, which say, among other criteria: “Must regularly attend and be actively engaged in a Bible-believing church.” Preferred: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Sports Management Applicant must hold a Strength and Conditioning Certification from one of the following organizations: NSCA – CSCS, USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach or above, CSCCa - SCCC, and must be up to date on CPR/AED certification. William Penn (NAIA - IA): William Penn University is currently accepting applications for a PAID Athletic Performance Fellowship. This is a 12 month position starting July 9th. There will be a monthly stipend attached to the position, continuing education opportunities such as attending conferences and clinics, and other potential opportunities to supplement income. At the end of the position, there is a possibility of continuing on as a Graduate Assistant or placement elsewhere as a Graduate Assistant – dependent on performance and availability of positions. Responsibilities include assisting with the design and implementation for a variety of William Penn University’s collegiate sports. The qualified candidate will be assigned sport(s) based on his/her background and experience. The position will also assist the Head Athletic Performance coach, help with maintenance of the Randleman Fitness Center, and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Performance Coach. Proven knowledge and experience with sport specific strength, speed, and agility programs is necessary. Additionally, there will be work with high school athletic performance programs that may require some travel. Hamilton (D-III - NY): Hamilton College in upstate New York has an opening for a Part Time Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach position. This is a 9 month hourly position. No housing, meals, or benefits. Stipend/salary will be in the mid to high teens (14-19k). Start date would be mid August and run through mid May.
