Tiffin (D-II - OH): Tiffin University is accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning Intern for the summer of 2017. The Tiffin staff is looking for highly motivated, aspiring strength coaches that want to work at the collegiate level of strength and conditioning. The program is beneficial for undergraduate students and the post bachelor professional looking for experience. The program also develops the necessary skills to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. The successful candidates will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 40 hours per week with the Athletic Department. Compensation: Division 2 experience with an earned recommendation for future career opportunities. Also, housing will be provided. Ideal candidates will be working towards a bachelor’s degree in the field of Exercise Science and a certification from the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, and/or USAW or have related and prior experience participating in college athletics; however this is not a requirement. UConn: The University of Connecticut football strength program seeks to hire a summer intern. The goal of our program is to provide an encompassing view of collegiate strength and conditioning, including programming, exercise technique and facility upkeep. This is an unpaid opportunity to gain real world coaching experience. Aside from the daily duties required of the position there will be assigned readings and projects to further the development of your knowledge base. The goal of this internship is for you to develop the needed experience and skill to make you a stronger candidate in taking the next step in your coaching career (i.e. becoming a graduate assistant coach). Potential candidates must possess an enthusiastic spirit, strong character and demonstrate effective organization and communication skills. Qualifications: In pursuit of or recent completion of a Bachelor’s degree in an exercise science related field. Experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning setting, as a coach or athlete. If not already certified, you are expected to be in pursuit of your CSCS or CSCCa certification. Compensation: This is an unpaid position with no housing or meal assistance. Internship credit hours may be obtained. Shippensburg (D-II - PA): Shippensburg University is currently seeking ONE qualified volunteer / internship candidate for the summer 2017 semester. This is an unpaid position. The summer strength and conditioning program will run from May 22 to August 5 (dates are flexible). Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program, on floor coaching of student athletes, teaching student athletes safe and proper exercise technique, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities and professional development throughout the internship. This internship will provide hands on coaching experience in a collegiate setting, education of program design and application, have the potential to earn future recommendations for career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm; Effective communication skills; Desire to become a collegiate strength and conditioning coach; First Aid, CPR & AED certified. Preferred Qualifications: Pursuing or have attained a bachelor’s or master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, exercise physiology or related field; Previous coaching experience in a collegiate setting or competitive collegiate involvement; Pursuing or have attained the SCCC, CSCS, USAW, FMS certifications, etc. It is strongly advised that all potential candidates make sure that this internship is economically feasible before applying.
