Kansas: University of Kansas Football Strength & Conditioning is currently seeking volunteers for an UNPAID internship to contribute to the program for the Spring of 2020. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to assist the full-time staff with training sessions for football in compliance with NCAA rules. This is an unpaid opportunity that offers invaluable knowledge and hands-on experience assisting the full-time coaching staff in all aspects of the strength and conditioning program, and the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. Potential candidates must possess a strong work ethic and character, great energy and enthusiasm, as well as the ability to demonstrate effective organization and communication skills. Potential candidates must have a great desire to learn about the strength and conditioning profession as well as pursue a career in the collegiate setting. Previous experience in a strength & conditioning program, coaching internship experience, or collegiate athletics experience is preferred but not required. This internship is expected to begin January 2020 and end at the conclusion of the semester. Minnesota-Duluth (D-II): The University of Minnesota Duluth Strength and Conditioning Department has an immediate opening for a part-time Strength and Conditioning Coach. This is a paid position where the successful candidate will be assigned his/her own teams to lead. Other responsibilities include assisting with daily weight room operations, administrative and maintenance duties, weight room supervision and various assignments as directed by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. The selected candidate would be asked to start as soon as possible. Requirements: bachelor’s degree, previous collegiate strength and conditioning experience and CSCS or USAW certifications preferred. Lamar (FCS - TX): Responsibilities will include assisting the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator with the administration and supervision of the strength and conditioning programs for all sports and directly overseeing the design and implementation of assigned sports. Maintain a safe and effective weight room with a focus on the health and welfare of the student-athlete. Other duties assigned by the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator including supervision, organization and administration of athlete testing, computer data entry and assisting in the day-to-day operation of the J.B. Higgins Weight Room. This position requires early mornings, evenings, weekends, some holidays, and other duties as assigned. This is a Part-time, 11 month position. Includes a tuition waiver and $11,000/year stipend. Strict adherence to established NCAA, Southland Conference, Lamar University and Texas State University System rules and regulations. A violation of these rules and regulations can lead to disciplinary action including termination. Reports Directly to the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field. Certification through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa-SCCC) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS) required. Current first aid, CPR and AED certification. Experience with the Olympic lifts. Knowledge of strength training, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition and cardiovascular conditioning required. Experience in a Division I strength and conditioning program. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Strong communication skills. Ability to motivate a variety of student-athletes on a daily basis. Initiative and leadership qualities on a daily basis. Knowledge/commitment to the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Southland Conference, Texas State University System and Lamar University required. Preferred Qualifications: Playing and/or coaching experience at the Division 1 Level.
