Houston: The University of Houston Football Sports Performance Program is currently accepting applications for UNPAID internships to begin Friday, August 3rd, 2018 and go through Friday, December 14th, 2018. Applicants should have, or be working towards, a BA/BS in Exercise Science or a related field. Completion of this internship can fulfill credit hours towards a program degree, SCCC certification, and potentially offer increased opportunities for advancement in the field of sports performance. Preferred qualifications include certification(s) from one or more of the following organizations: The CSCCa (SCCC), NSCA (CSCS), or USAW. Preferred qualifications also include previous coaching experience and proficiency in teaching basic weight room exercises. This position is responsible for assisting the football sports performance staff with the implementation of the in-season program, set up and break down of all training sessions, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training division-I collegiate athletes. Yale: Yale University Sports Performance is looking for candidates to fulfill internship positions with the Football team during the Fall 2018 semester. This internship does not provide monetary compensation, but can be used as continuing education credits (2.0) through the NSCA, or College credit. Along with credit, the internship will provide the opportunity to work hands on with a Football team that won the 2017 Ivy Championship and finished #24 in the nation. Along with the Football team, Yale has 30 teams that interns will also have the opportunity to work with for added experience, including the 2018 National Champion Men's Lacrosse team. This is a rigorous internship with hours that would closely mimic that of a full time strength coach. There is a classroom component to this internship, that will include lectures on program design, theory, nutrition, athletic testing, and more. Assignments will be given to test understanding of material and will be required for completion of the internship. The goal of this internship is to ready individuals for full time positions upon completion. Requirements: The ideal candidate would be working towards their Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree. Students who have recently graduated are also welcome to apply. A SCCC / USAW / CSCS certification is preferred but not required. Macalester (D-III - MN): Macalester College, a NCAA Division III member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference(MIAC), is accepting applications for a Part-time Sports Performance Coach. The position is a two-semester commitment for the 2018-19 academic year. A time commitment of 15 hours per week is required. Description: This position will assist the Head of Sports Performance and the strength and conditioning staff in developing, implementing, and conducting strength and conditioning programs for all 21 varsity sports. Additional responsibilities will include weight room supervision, daily upkeep, and maintenance of equipment, and additional job duties assigned by the Head of Sports Performance. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, sports medicine, physical education, or related field required. Applicants must be certified in CPR/First Aid and have one of the SCCC, CSCS, and/or USA-W certifications that are recognized by the NCAA. Bemidji State (MN): Bemidji State University is a multi- divisional (DI and DII) university which has an opening for a paid Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach position. This is a 10 month adjunct position from August through May, however there is a paid opportunity to stay on campus and coach during the summer. The position will ideally start ASAP. The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree and current SCCC or CSCS certification as well as First Aid & CPR/AED certification.The preferred candidate will have 1-2 years experience in programming and in coaching in the collegiate setting. Minnesota Duluth (D-II): The University of Minnesota Duluth Athletics Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking an applicant for a PAID part-time assistant. The successful candidate will be assigned his/her own sports. Other responsibilities include assisting with daily operations, administrative and maintenance duties, weight room supervision and various assignments within the strength and conditioning department. Must be highly motivated, possess strong interpersonal skills as well as written skills and provide positive leadership within the University of Minnesota Duluth Athletic Department. Morningside (NAIA - IA): Morningside College Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for the position of a PART-TIME Strength and Conditioning Coach. The position is non-benefitted and will begin in August 1st, 2018 and run through May 10th, 2019. There is a possibility for renewal at the end of the academic school year as well. Compensation: $8,000 for the whole academic year broken up into a monthly stipend; in addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to obtain Practicum Hourly Requirements needed to sit for the SCCC exam administered by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association by an approved mentor. Responsibilities: Assisting with all aspects of the daily operation of the Morningside College Strength and Conditioning Department. The candidate will be in charge of implementing and designing programs for 2-3 teams, as well as the opportunity to assist with all other sports when available. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or Master’s Degree in a related field and one year of experience as an intern or graduate assistant in a collegiate environment. Must possess one of the following nationally accredited certifications from the CSCCa-SCCC or from the NSCA-CSCS. Updated CPR/AED/First Aid required.
