Tulane: Tulane University Strength and Conditioning is currently seeking applicants for 2 volunteer UNPAID internships for Football for the Summer Term 2017. This position will run from May 29th to July 28th. Required qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in exercise science or a related field and a strong desire to become a Collegiate/Professional Strength & Conditioning Coach. Preferred qualifications: Experience as a collegiate athlete and currently pursuing or possessing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s). Georgia Southern: The Georgia Southern FOOTBALL Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications to fill two (2) UNPAID internship spots for the Summer 2017. Interns will gain experience working in a Division 1 FBS environment. Qualified applicants must possess CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications, a strong work ethic, the desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, a flexible work schedule, and effective communication skills. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field, obtain or in pursuit of a CSCS or SCCC certification, and previous playing experience of a sport at the collegiate level or higher. Responsibilities include assisting the Football Strength & Conditioning staff in the implementation and supervision of training sessions, assist with the daily administrative duties, facility cleaning and maintenance duties, set-up and break down of equipment, nutrition room responsibilities, and all other duties that may be assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning coach. New Mexico State: New Mexico State University (Sunbelt/WAC) is currently accepting applications for FOUR Summer UNPAID Internships for Summer 2017. The dates, which are somewhat flexible, are May 18th – July 28th. Selected interns will be working with 8 of the 17 sports at NMSU, including Football. Job duties will include assisting the Sports Performance Staff in all aspects of running a Sports Performance Department at the highest possible level. First priority will be assisting in implementation of strength and power development, linear and lateral speed development, plyometric periodization, and all aspects of conditioning. These responsibilities will go along with assisting in facility maintenance and aiding in enforcing weight room policies and procedures. QUALIFICAITONS: Applicants must be pursuing a career as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach. Additionally, the applicant must be completing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field, or looking to fulfill the obligations required to become SCC certified. Preference will be given to applicants who have obtained their SCCC, CSCS, USAW, and CPR certifications. They must have a strong work ethic, outstanding energy, enthusiasm, and a great desire to learn about the strength and conditioning profession. BENEFITS: If accepted, interns will gain the experience of operating in a Sports Performance Department at a D-1 (FBS) school. They will learn proper exercise techniques, correct exercise prescriptions, and develop leadership skills that are critical to being an effective coach. If desired, applicants can complete their SCCC (CSCCa) internship portion of their certification under mentor Don Decker (Director of Sports Performance (CSCCa Board Member). Additionally, selected interns will gain knowledge on data management, bar velocity and training standards, become proficient using the EliteForm system located on all 24 platforms and gain a working knowledge of the Medtronic Zephyr Performance System.
