UConn: The University of Connecticut Football Strength and Conditioning staff is looking for two unpaid volunteer interns for the Summer term of 2019 with the option of continuation into the Fall Semester based on availability and evaluation of performance. Ideal candidates must be highly motivated and working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Candidates must be CPR/AED certified and possess or are currently working towards certification through the USAW, NSCA, or CSCCa. The internship will include set up and take down of the weight room, daily cleaning and maintenance, completion of a comprehensive educational curriculum, hands on experience, and any other duties assigned by the strength and conditioning staff. As a reminder, this is an unpaid position and if it will not work financially please do not apply. The start date for the internship is June 4th and will run through July 26th. Arkansas Little Rock: University of Arkansas at Little Rock (NCAA D1) – Little Rock is currently in the process of accepting applications for (1) Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach starting June of 2019. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to developing and implementing a periodized strength & program for 1-3 intercollegiate athletic teams and assist with others as necessary. Assist with and conduct periodic performance and strength testing, and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. The candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field, knowledge and experience with coaching the Olympic Lifts, and a desire to pursue a career in the field of Athletic Development. Additionally, candidates should have a great work ethic, and strong computer skills especially in excel. Minimum requirements include a current NSCA CSCS or CSCCa SCCC, and a current CPR, First Aide and AED certification. Preferred experience includes experience at the NCAA Division 1 level coaching strength and conditioning for intercollegiate athletes, playing intercollegiate athletics, and a USAW certification. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA and a GRE are required for enrollment into the university. A full tuition and book waiver as well as a stipend will be provided as compensation. Northwestern State: Northwestern State University is now accepting applications for 3 summer interns for the intern program. The summer intern program will run from June 1 st to July 26 th . This position is UNPAID and is a VOLUNTEER position. Interns will mainly work with football with the possibility of working with some Olympic sports. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to; helping with set-up and breakdown of lifts and conditioning, maintenance of facilities, implementation of workouts, help teach and coach proper training techniques to the athletes, and completion of an internship curriculum. Prerequisites include; currently working towards a bachelors degree in exercise science or related field, working towards the CPR/AED certification, working towards the CSCS certification, and the desire to be a strength and conditioning coach. Howard: Howard University Strength & Conditioning is seeking applicants who are highly motivated and passionate about strength and conditioning to fill four (4) available unpaid internships positions for the Summer of 2019. Start date is negotiable, and can be for the start of Summer session 1 (May 20th) or 2 (prior to June 24th). Applicants must be seeking to become a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach or already certified through the NSCA or CSCCA. This internship will not just be a protein shake stocking and bench wiping experience, there is plenty of opportunity for coaching experience to be earned. You will be getting hands on coaching experience at America’s top Division 1 HBCU. North Carolina Central: The Sports Performance Department at North Carolina Central University is accepting applications for internship positions for the Summer/Fall 2019 semesters. This is an UNPAID internship; this volunteer position offers Division I experience and the opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Candidates will COACH, and will have a chance to serve as top assistants for select varsity sports. Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Must be working towards a degree in the field of exercise science or similar. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing SCCC, CSCS or relevant certification from one of the following: NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW and CPR –First Aid certification. Candidates additionally have the option of completing the internship practicum for the CSCCa Examination.
