Appalachian State: Appalachian State University is accepting applications for Spring 2017 Strength and Conditioning Internships. These are UNPAID internships. These positions will run from approximately January 13th thru early May. Interns will gain practical experience working with a multitude of teams, including football, at a Division 1 Sun Belt Conference university. Daily tasks include but are not limited to: aiding in the implementation of training programs, assisting with set up and break down of equipment, daily clean up and maintenance of the weight room, and supervision of nutrition area. Applicants must be highly self-motivated, able to follow directions, possess excellent communication skills, have a desire to learn, and have an extremely strong work ethic. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/AED/First Aid, adapt to demanding schedule, and a strong desire to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach. At the end of the semester long internship volunteers will have a better understanding of program design, have the potential to earn recommendations for future opportunities, and if applicable receive college credit. UNLV: The University of Nevada Las Vegas Department of Athletic Performance is accepting applications for the Spring 2017 Athletic Performance Internship Curriculum. This volunteer internship will expose participants to all facets of Athletic Performance. Interns will complete both an academic and practical curriculum. Academic experiences include: weekly reading assignments, program design projects, daily meetings/discussions with full time staff members, and weekly evaluations. Practical experiences include: hands on experience in running a Division I Athletic Performance Department, staff meetings, daily maintenance, technology implementation and record keeping. Interns will receive experience working with various teams in a Division I training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Intern qualifications include: enrollment in a bachelor’s/master’s program in exercise science or related field, punctuality, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include: SCCC or CSCS certification, CPR/First Aid certification. Females, and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Northern Michigan: Northern Michigan University is currently accepting applications to fill ONE Winter 2017 volunteer internship positions. Qualified candidates will work with the all varsity athletic teams. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting the NMU Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the Winter 2017 program, HOUSING WILL BE PROVIDED ALONG WITH A ASSISTANCE FOR A PART TIME JOB. Job entails set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion of Bachelor’s degree by the commencement of the intern program/current pursuit of a graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa), previous coaching experience, personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. San Jose State: San Jose State is looking to fill a volunteer / intern athletic performance coach position for the Spring of 2017. No financial compensation will be provided. Responsibilities for the positions are: assist AP staff with all daily maintenance and operational duties, involvement in volunteer/intern professional development program, as well as other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Performance Coach. Applicants should have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Exercise Science or a related field and working towards CSCS or SCCC. Must have a strong desire to be involved in Athletic Performance at the collegiate level; proficient in Microsoft Excel; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; must be diligent and willing to learn; adhere to all University, Mountain West Conference and NCAA regulations.
