FAU: The Florida Atlantic University Olympic Strength and Conditioning staff is now accepting applications for highly motivated, VOLUNTEER INTERNS for the Spring 2021 semester. The primary function of this position will be to assist the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports and the rest of the strength staff with the management of total athletic preparation of student-athletes to include, but not limited to: development of training programs, application of appropriate motivational techniques, instruction of student-athletes in the proper execution of weight training exercises, plyometrics, agility drills, flexibility training, speed development techniques, conditioning modalities, and communicating with appropriate coaching personnel regarding the needs and demands of the student-athletes.The successful candidate will gain valuable experience with specific Olympic sport teams and elite amateur student-athletes at a Division 1 University. Minimum qualifications include: Eligible candidates will need to be in good academic standing and finishing their undergraduate studies or have graduated with their Bachelor’s degree, current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED, and financially capable of holding the position for the Spring Semester (January to May 2021) since NO MONETARY COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED. Successful applicants must have a strong desire to become strength and conditioning professionals and a tireless work ethic in order to accommodate the demands of the position. Preferred qualifications include: a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, etc.), Various Certifications, previous experience working in a collegiate or professional athletic setting, and previous playing experience in a collegiate or professional level. Tarleton State (FCS – Stephenville, TX): The Tarleton State University Athletic Performance Program is accepting internship applications for the Spring 2021 semester, with a starting date on or before Jan 18, 2021, and an end date of May 7, 2021. The internship hours may be countable toward the CSCCa’s Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified practicum requirements, and/or for college credit if needed. The volunteer internship will involve active experience in an NCAA Division I (FCS) Athletic Performance program under the supervision of a 37-year veteran Master Strength and Conditioning Coach and his staff. Qualifications: Applicants should be pursuing strength and conditioning as a profession and possess, or currently be working on, CSCCa, NSCA, or USAW certification. Compensation: This is an educational internship with no monetary compensation provided. However, opportunities for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning are possible for successful interns. Luther (D-III - IA): Luther College, an NCAA Division III institution located in Decorah, Iowa, seeks an Assistant Athletic Performance Coach and Director of the Legends Fitness Center. The coach will be responsible for: developing, organizing, and monitoring individualized strength training programs for members of select teams of the 19 intercollegiate athletic teams at Luther College; organizing and managing individual and team strength data; providing instruction in proper lifting techniques and speed development; leading team strength and conditioning sessions; testing and evaluating physical performance and improvement; and collaborating with athletic training staff to facility injury rehabilitation. The Director of the Legends Fitness Center will create a safe and clean environment, develop facility policies and procedures, and assure equipment is purchased and maintained. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred in Exercise Science or related field; at least 1-3 years of relevant experience in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level; C.S.C.S., SCCC, or comparable certification; and experience with strength and conditioning software. Yale: Yale Sports Performance is seeking qualified candidates to fill available internship positions for the Spring 2021 semester. This internship includes a classroom lecture component as well as rigorous hours in the weight room alongside full-time coaches for hands on experience. Students will not only gain the knowledge of program design and theory, nutrition, athletic testing, and leadership, but also have the chance to apply what they have learned in a practical setting with Division I athletes. Yale Athletics is home to 34 varsity teams, allowing the interns to work with a variety of sports. This includes the 2019 Ivy League Championship Football team, the 2018 National Championship Men's Lacrosse team, as well as the 11 time Women’s Volleyball Ivy League Champions. The goal of this internship is to give interns the necessary tools to obtain jobs within the strength and conditioning field. The hours will closely resemble that of a full time strength and conditioning coach. This is an unpaid internship, but hours can be used towards academic credits for college. It is also an NSCA accredited continuing education site. You will receive 2 continuing education units (CEU’s) upon completion. The ideal prospective candidate would be a current or recently graduated college student. Preference will be given to those who have studied Exercise Science, however all professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
