Marshall: The Marshall University Strength and Conditioning Department (Olympic Sports) is seeking motivated individuals to fill 1-2 volunteer coach positions for the Fall 2016 Semester. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Setup, breakdown, and implementation of training programs for 12 intercollegiate teams and assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment and facility. This is an unpaid position, but the candidate will gain critical experience working and learning in a Division I setting. The internship will begin August 15th, 2016 and will end December 16th, 2016. The candidate must be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field and be CPR and First Aid certified. Preferred qualifications: CSCS, USAW, SCCC. Miami: The University of Miami is currently accepting applications for Fall 2016 volunteer internship positions. Qualified candidates would work with the Football & Olympic Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an UNPAID position that is responsible for assisting The U Strength and Conditioning staff with the implementation of the summer and fall program, set up and break down of all workouts, maintenance and upkeep of the weight room and facility, and hands-on experience training collegiate athletes. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and possess a strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (USAW, CSCS, CSCCa), previous coaching experience, personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. Southern University and A&M: Southern University and A&M is accepting applications for volunteer Strength & Conditioning interns for the Fall of 2016. Southern is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Applicants must be currently pursuing a degree related to exercise science and must be working toward NSCA or CSCCA certification. Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of 13 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance duties; and professional development throughout the internship program. Qualifications include a strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to further one’s career in the field of Strength & Conditioning. Preferred qualifications include: SCCC, CSCS, or USAW certifications; CPR/AED certification and previous coaching experience. Selected applicants will receive experience working with a wide variety of collegiate athletes, an advanced understanding of program design, and the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities.
