Mercer University (FCS- GA): Mercer University Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking applicants who are highly motivated to fill internship positions for the Fall of 2019 starting the week of August 19th, 2019 and going through November 22nd, 2019. This is an UNPAID, volunteer position. Interns will also have the chance to earn additional responsibilities. Academic credits can be applied towards an Exercise Science or related Undergraduate or Graduate program if necessary. With education through experience being our main goal, interns will be provided and challenged with the key qualities of success in the Strength and Conditioning field. This includes professional development and continuing education, daily opportunities to learn and grow as a leader, expansion of network connections, teaching student athletes’ proper lifting technique, and daily weight room maintenance. While working with Football, and all other Division I athletic programs, interns will gain practical coaching experience in accordance with the philosophy of the department and can begin to lay the groundwork for future opportunities with a consideration and recommendation for future employment. Qualifications include: strong work ethic, attention to detail, enthusiasm, effective communication skills, positive energy, willingness to work, Bachelor’s degree or a degree in process, hold certification(s) and/or seeking to get certified in at least one of the major certifications below. Preferences (but not limited to): CPR/AED/First Aid Certified, CSCS, SCCC, USAW. Texas A&M Kingsville (D-II): Texas A&M University-Kingsville is looking to hire 1 Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant to begin in July or August 2019. This is a 1-year position with the 2 nd year subject for renewal based on performance. This position includes a scholarship to cover tuition and fees (i.e. 18 semester credit hours per calendar year), 10 meals per week, and a $200 per month housing stipend. RESPONSIBILITIES for potential candidates will include but are not limited to programming and implementing training for 3-4 teams as well as assisting with Football and other duties assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. QUALIFICATIONS: Potential candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or kinesiology and must be admitted into the Graduate school of Kinesiology, GRE Required. Candidates must also hold a CSCS or SCCC certification prior to starting. Briar Cliff: The Briar Cliff University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for one volunteer intern for fall 2019. This is an UNPAID position. Candidates will assist with all aspects of strength and conditioning for the fall semester. Successful candidates must display a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and desire to become a collegiate strength and conditioning coach. Willingness to work early mornings, late evenings and possible weekends. Candidates must possess or be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in exercise science or related field. Candidates should hold or be working towards CPR/AED, CSCS, or SCCC certifications. If hired candidate will have an opportunity to apply for a graduate assistant position starting January 2020. Lamar (FCS - TX): Lamar University has an opportunity for an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach (full time + benefits). JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide expertise, guidance, and training in the area of strength training and physical conditioning for all student-athletes and sports teams at Lamar University. Design and implement strength and conditioning programs that enhance athletic performance and reduce the risk of injury. Assist the strength and conditioning department by designing and implementing programs, regularly testing the student-athletes to determine the effectiveness of the programs and maintaining accurate records of student-athlete’s progress. Responsible for the supervision and daily upkeep of the sport performance facilities. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science or related field; Master’s degree preferred. Current first aid, CPR and AED certification required. Knowledge of strength training, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition and cardiovascular conditioning required. Knowledge/commitment to the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Southland Conference, Texas State University System and Lamar University required. Certification through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa-SCCC) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS) required. Certification through United States Weightlifting (USAW-Sport Performance Coach) preferred. Two or more years of strength and conditioning experience at the collegiate level strongly preferred. Experience coaching basketball and student-athletes of diverse backgrounds preferred. Demonstrate strong communication skills. UCF: The University of Central Florida Football Sport Performance program is currently seeking volunteers for an unpaid internship for Fall 2019. Applicants are being considered for the full fall semester and or camp-only interns. The full fall internship experience will go from July 29th until the end of the football season. Camp-only interns will go from July 29th to August 23rd. The selected candidates will have the opportunity to assist the full-time staff with training in compliance with NCAA rules. This is an unpaid opportunity that offers a learning curriculum and hands-on experience assisting the coaching staff in all aspects of the strength and conditioning program. Interns will receive experience working at the Division 1 level and have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. This internship can be used toward hour requirements for many graduate programs. Harvard: Harvard Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for their Fall 2019 internship. This is a volunteer, UNPAID, position and offers Division I experience with 42 varsity sports and training in an educational environment as well as an opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the strength and conditioning staff in the training of the Harvard University athletic programs, assist with daily administrative and maintenance duties, assist in the set-up and break-down of equipment for every workout, spotting athletes and participation in weekly projects and assignments for the duration of the internship. Minimum Qualifications: must have a strong work-ethic, enthusiasm and a desire to develop the characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree/pursuing a degree in exercise science or a related field and pursuing one of the following certifications: SCCC; CSCS or USAW and a CPR/AED–First Aid certification. Yale: Yale University Sports Performance is looking for candidates to fulfill internship positions for the Fall 2019 semester. The internship is a comprehensive experience providing hands on education in the weight room, with a classroom component, including lectures on program design, theory, nutrition, athletic testing, and more. The internship will provide the opportunity to work hands on with the Football team that has just won the 2017 Ivy Championship and finished #24 in the nation. In addition, interns will work with the 2018 National Championship Men’s Lacrosse team. Yale has 30 teams that interns will have the opportunity to work with for added experience. This is a rigorous internship with hours that would closely mimic that of a full time strength coach. The goal of this internship is to ready individuals for full time positions upon completion. There is no monetary compensation for the internship, but there is the opportunity to use this internship as a site for the completion of College requirements. The internship is also an NSCA accredited continuing education site. You will receive 2 CEU's for participating in the internship. The ideal candidate will be a current college student, or one who has recently graduated. Loyola (MD): The Loyola University Maryland Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for the position of part-time assistant strength and conditioning coach. This is a paid position. Candidates are expected to work 20 hours per week. Responsibilities: Assist the strength and conditioning staff in all aspects of daily operations. Successful applicants will oversee the design and implementation of programs for 3-4 assigned teams and may assist with other teams when necessary.
