Montana: The University of Montana Department of Athletic Performance is accepting qualified applicants for the Fall of 2016 Athletic Performance Internship Program. This is an unpaid position. Interns will gain experience with both football and Olympic sports performance training, while completing an intern development program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the strength and conditioning staff with the implementation of sport specific strength, speed, agility, flexibility, mobility, and conditioning programs for all sports. Additional responsibilities will include training session set up, daily upkeep, and maintenance of equipment and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Performance. Interns will be an extension of the Athletic Performance staff and will be expected to abide by all rules and regulations of Athletic Performance and Griz Athletics. Required Qualifications: Applicants should be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field. Applicants should be certified or working toward CSCS or SCCC certification. Candidates must have a strong desire to be involved in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level. Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan University Sports Performance is looking for qualified strength and conditioning interns for the Fall 2016 semester. The internship will begin Sunday August 28th and will end on Friday December 16th 2016. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field; working towards NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, USAW certifications; CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience. Compensation: This is a non-paid position. Those accepted into the program will receive Coach McKeefery’s nationally recognized internship curriculum, practical strength and conditioning experience, and career mentorship. Hours completed can be applied toward undergraduate/graduate internship requirements and/or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association certification practicum requirement. Bradley: Assistant Director of Sport Performance: The Bradley University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated professional for the position of Assistant Director of Sport Performance. This full time, twelve month coaching position encompasses collaborative efforts with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Performance in strength and conditioning program design and implementation for 220+ student-athletes in all 15 sports; involving education and instruction on proper lifting technique, locomotion, flexibility, nutrition, and recovery methods. Primarily responsible for upholding the values and mission of Bradley Athletics, pertaining to performance enhancement and injury prevention through implementation of research and experience based training. A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred. One to three years of strength and conditioning experience in a collegiate environment is also preferred. The successful candidate must possess significant expertise within the strength and conditioning field; excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; the ability to motivate student-athletes and work cooperatively with coaches and the sport medicine staff; a commitment to excellence and value of education; familiarity and comfort working in an environment with a strong academic commitment; and sensitivity to cultural differences. Proficiency with computer applications, general office software and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required. Certification by CSCS, USAW and/or CSCCa is necessary. CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire. Citadel: The Citadel is currently accepting applications for three VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions. The internship will last from August 22 – December 9. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I S&C environment under the guidance of an approved CSCCa mentor. Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications; an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff.
