Shorter (D-II - GA): Shorter University, a NCAA II institution in Rome Ga. is seeking HIGHLY MOTIVATED candidates to fill two openings for Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant Coaches. Responsibilities for coaches will include but are not limited to: Assist the Director of Strength & Conditioning in the development, implementation, and supervision of a sports performance program for 18 Div. II varsity sports, instruct and coach athletes on proper training technique, professional development through reading assignments and conversations with coaches from other organizations, maintenance of facilities, set up and break down of training sessions, student intern development and mentorship, and other duties as assigned. GAs receive 31 hours of tuition remission for graduate courses only; if pre-requisites are needed they must be covered by financial aid or applicant’s personal funds. Qualifications: Potential candidates must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. All candidates must be enrolled for the 2019 Fall Semester (first or second session) and maintain satisfactory progress towards degree completion to maintain the position. Required: Undergraduate degree in related strength and conditioning field; 1 – 2 years coaching experience, in the weight room, is preferred. Applicant must hold a Strength and Conditioning Certification from one of the following organizations: NSCA – CSCS, USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach or above, CSCCa - SCCC, and must be up to date on CPR/AED certification The candidate must be able to articulate their salvation history clearly and meet the Core Spiritual Requirements listed in the Graduate Assistantship guidelines, which say, among other criteria: “Must regularly attend and be actively engaged in a Bible-believing church.” Preferred: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Sports Management . GAs are asked to make a minimum 16 to 24-month work commitment to Shorter, depending on the master’s program and hours allowed each semester. Class hours taken in the summer require a work commitment of at least 5-10 hours per week of class. Start Date: July 2019 (can be discussed with applicant) Application Deadline: June 15th, 2019.
